A US Army RU-8D aircraft makes gear-up landing on foam-covered runway at Ton Son Nhut Air Base in South Vietnam.

A U.S. Army RU-8D Beechcraft Seminole aircraft, with olive drab paint job, and serial number 57-6053, makes a successful gear up landing on a foam-covered runway at Ton Son Nhut Air Base in South Vietnam. The pilot walks away from the plane as firefighters and equipment move in. Pilots near a cockpit. The pilots and crew men move on the runway. (Note: Many antennae of various types can be seen on the aircraft, that indicate it is likely from the 138th Aviation Company, 224th Aviation battalion at Da Nang Air Base. That unit flew such aircraft in so-called ELINT ( electronic intelligence) missions. The Army also referred to such aircraft as Special Electronic Mission Aircraft.)
