They move out through a small valley. Tanks move up and machine guns fired at caves used as fortifications by Japanese troops. Flamethrower tank fires at Japanese caves on side of the cliff causing explosions. Hillside burns after assault from flame throwing tanks. Large columns of white and black smoke arises from hills. Tracers from tank fired into Japanese cave positions. Flamethrower tank fires into enemy cave. (World War II period).
U.S. Marines destroy Japanese fortifications in Okinawa. Marines in full combat gear make way up side of ridge. Marine throws bangalore torpedo into cave on side of ridge. Marines wait around on ridge to see if any of the enemy escapes torpedo and comes out of cave. Another torpedo explodes in cave and Marines walk up to cave. (World War II period).
U.S. 6th Marines advance toward and into Naha in Okinawa. Marine runs away after planting satchel charge in cave. Satchel charge explodes. Marine carrying Browning Automatic Rifle trots around to front of cave and fires into mouth of cave. Marine puts satchel charge into the mouth of cave. Marines move up ridge with their equipment. Cameraman slate indicates it is "Dog Company" taking the ridge over the Corps' objective. (World War II period).

Soldiers give out flour and other provisions to women refugees. Oil pipelines running from ship to shores. Canadian artillerymen attack Ortona in Italy. Dead soldiers.
