He leaves the office and is joined by his son, Edward at their warehouse store. Edward Wingate takes order from a business customer. Bill Wingate is seen with workers in their carpentry department where they manufacture cabinet display cases for beauty and barber shops.
A store front sign reads: "Means Bros Real Estate, Leslie Builders and Contractors". Andrew Means, owner of the real estate office, in Gary Indiana, is seen at his desk . View of Mr. Means, with his daughter, Sylvia McDonald and several other persons coming out of his "dream house." He escorts the other persons to his Park Manor Development where suburban homes are under construction.(It appears that they are prospective home buyers.) Views of partially built houses in the suburbs. African American bricklayers are seen at work, as the African American home buyers look on.
A professional wrestling match between Cyclon Anaya and Don Eagle from Quebec Canada in Cleveland, Ohio. Cyclon Anaya, a wrestler from Mexico and Don Eagle, a North American Indian brave, enter the wrestling ring. They fight and wrestle in the ring. Don Eagle throws Anaya out of the ring. Spectators watch the wrestling match. A referee enforces the rules of the ring during the boxing match. Don Eagle wins the match.
Two law enforcement officials pose at New York City waterfront. The tugboat, "Manhattan" underway in New York harbor, in calm waters, pushing a barge loaded with damaged slot machines. Officials stand on deck and an American flag flies high above the vessel. "City of New York Dept of Docks" is written on the barge. Interior of the tugboat wheelhouse, with the Captain at the wheel, steering. Group of men dumping slot machines from the barge into the sea. They work on a huge pile of machines from which some tumble to the deck. One burly fellow lifts a machine over his head and tosses it into the sea. An official, in a business suit, uses broom to push debris from the barge into the water.
New Year's celebration in Times Square, New York City, as 1937 begins. Neon signs dominate the scene. Examples read: "Planters Peanuts", "Coca-Cola", Camel Cigarettes, and others. The Criterion movie theater marquee reads: "Cagney." The Hotel Astor is seen. Celebrating crowd is shadowed, except for brief glimpse. Lighted advertisements for Chevrolet automobiles stream across the Times building. The advertisements are interrupted by a message reading: " The time is now 12:02."
