They decide that each British worker would visit the hometown of an American counterpart. One pair leaves to visit Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The pick up their luggage. Another pair are going to Detroit, Michigan. They pick up their luggage. The third pair is going to St. Louis, Illinois. They pick up their luggage. The final pair are going to Los Angeles, California. They pick up the last remaining pieces of luggage. One pair of workers is seen entering the Chrysler plant in Detroit. The American was welcomed home to America from his trip to England. View inside the plant of an African American woman working beside an older man, where they were making tank and marine engines. The visitors examine the gang drill presses containing multiple drills operated by a single operator. They stop to say hello to the American's daughter who also works at the plant, checking to assure parts met tolerances. It was noted that she was paid the same as any man doing the job. The pair of visitors are met at the American's home by some company union workers. They sit together on the step outside the house and get acquainted. An infant inside the house looks out the window at them. Scene shifts to Los Angeles where another English-American visiting pair is seated outdoors and the wife of the American brings out some bottles of beer for them to all share. Change of scene shows the pair visiting the offices of the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood, where they meet celebrities Edward Arnold, George Murphy, Dick Powell, Alan Hale, Jane Wyman, Helen Hayes and Lena Horne. Edward Arnold, President of the Guild's Board, speaks with the pair, alone explaining how every actor in Hollywood belongs to the Guild which is affiliated with the America Federation of Labor (AFL). M1917 helmets painted and packed for shipment at Ford Assembly Plant in Philadelphia (WWI)
Ford Motor Company employees paint and finish United States Army Brodie-patterned M1917 helmets at a factory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania during World War I. Factory workers working in assembly line. Worker hammers a bolt in the center of the helmet. A worker attaches chin strap into the helmet. A machine attaches a bolt into the chin strap. Helmets are prepared for the paint tank. Workers dip helmets into paint tanks. Men wipe off helmets to remove a coat of tallow applied to prevent rusting. Helmets placed on rack, dipped in paint tank, and hung to dry on stands. Helmets are treated with sawdust applied with air pressure (“sawdusting”). Workers are seen wearing goggles as they apply sawdust in helmets. After applying sawdust, racks of helmets are placed in bake oven. The workers close the bake oven door. Workers sort and stack new helmets. Military and quality control personnel inspect helmets carefully. Finished U.S. Army helmets put into wooden crate and shipment lid placed onto it. Helmets are packed with air pressure. Crates stenciled, seals soldered, and crates fastened with wires. A man places a receipt on top of helmets before another man seals the crate. Wooden crates piled up for shipment. [Note: This was filmed at the Ford Motor Company assembly plant on Broad Street and Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia. Helmet shells were manufactured by other firms and sent vie rail to the Ford plant where they were painted and finished. This video depicts that finishing process.]

American veterans of World War 1 march on streets of Washington DC, carrying a large poster demanding immediate cash redemption their "bonus" service certificates awarded by Congress in 1924 (but not lawfully payable until 1945). Army Chief of Staff, General Douglas MacArthur, ordered by President Hoover, to clear the Bonus Army encampments, is seen standing in a street surrounded by several U.S. Army troops. People watch from sidewalks as a contingent of U.S. Army cavalry rides down the street. U.S. Army M-1917 tanks roll down Pennsylvania Avenue in July 1932.
