Homecoming 1958 college football game played at Rice Stadium in Houston, Texas. The Rice Owls host the U.S. Army cadets from Westpoint. Scenes from the game. Rice Quarterback Alvin Hartman connects key passes to Buddy Dial. Also scenes with Army Quarterback Joe Caldwell throwing to Bill Carpenter (known as the "Lonesome End"), and later to halfback Bob Anderson. During the game, 69,000 home fans at Rice Stadium cheer while watching the action. After blocking a Rice field goal attempt on the 9 yard line, Army scores on a touchdown pass to Pete Dawkins (later the Heisman Trophy winner that year) in the final minute to win over the Rice Owls 14-7.
