Various Allied Generals assume new commands in Italy during December, 1944, World War II.

(Narrator states he is en route to replace the late Field Marshal Sir John Dill, in Washington, DC, USA) A contingent of British troops is also present as part of the honor guard, on the wet airport tarmac. A dramatized film about the training of U.S. Navy recruits at various naval training centers in the United States. The training and life of United States Navy recruits at U.S. Navy training center in Bainbridge, Naval Station Great Lakes in Illinois and Naval Base San Diego in California. The sailors watch a movie which depicts historic navy sailors on old masted sailing ships as they fire naval guns at another ship. The reenactment is of a 18th century or 19th century naval battle. Launching, naming, and outfitting newly built Liberty Ships in Sausalito, California
A new ship, named "Bold Creek" is ready for a launch out of Sausalito California shipyards (or Richmond California). A ceremony takes place. A formation of crew members welcome guests by saluting them. The guests climb a platform and Christen the ship which slides down the ways into the water. Work commences immediately on another ship in the same place. Another ship is launched (number 22 on its bow). The yard launches 5 ships per day for two years. A ship is moved by a boat called a "sea mule." into a line of ships being outfitted. After being outfitted with everything for operation and living, a Liberty ship departs on its maiden voyage.

On Election Day, November 7, 1944, in World War 2, Americans are seen waiting patiently to vote. They stand in a long line extending down a city sidewalk next to brick and stone buildings. Views of several persons in the line. Scene shifts in flashback to the election of Woodrow Wilson, in 1912. Four men on horseback arrive at a polling place. Another travels to vote, in his 1910 Ford Model T truck. Change of time and place shows farmer arriving by horse-drawn wagon and walking to polling place past 1930s car and truck. Among the sites shown is Bridgeport Central High School, built in 1916, (which later became Bridgeport City Hall), at 45 Lyon Terrace in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
