Scene shifts to after graduation, when Minnijean Brown, one of the nine, strolls the campus of Southern Illinois University, and speaks of wanting to be a writer. She is seen in the office of a newspaper, where she works as a part time reporter, after school. Brown walks on the college campus with Professor Simon. she bicycles and picnics with friends.

Jefferson Thomas, one of the African-American students part of the Little Rock High school segregation controversy walking amongst students in hallway of Central High School, Little Rock Arkansas, four years after graduating. The hall is filled with students changing classes. Thomas climbs staircase holding the bannister. A white student courteously tries to help him find his way. He walks down a hall and looks at teacher and students in a classroom. Scene shifts to years earlier, showing Thelma Mothershed, another of the Little Rock Nine African-American students, in a similar classroom at Central High, and then rapidly to her walking along a hallway, at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Illinois. She speaks of teaching and children, as scenes show her with children in school settings. She is also seen in a dressmaking class. Scene reverts back to her at Central High in Little Rock.

View of the Chicago skyline of buildings on Lake Michigan waterfront. View from slow moving aircraft of the Wrigley Building; the Michigan Avenue Bridge across the Chicago River; and the Tribune Tower. Camera continues to pan to East and then at the Kemper Building with "United Insurance" written near its top. Actress Donna Reed suggests giving United States Savings Bonds as a Christmas gift in 1961

Christmas time advertisement for U.S. Savings Bonds. Interior of a house decorated for Christmas, with Christmas tree and toy train running on a table. Actress Donna Reed walks to the table, stops the train and holds up a December 1958 U.S. Savings Bond. She speaks about the Savings Bond, places it on a toy train car, and starts the train. As the train moves along the track, it passes signs reflecting successive passing time increments: Dec 1961 (three years), Dec 1964 (3 more years), and Aug 1968 (3 more years and 8 months). By staying on track to maturity, the bond is worth much more. Donna Reed notes this and suggests Savings Bonds as a Christmas gift. She closes by wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. (Note: The original maturity period for a Series E Bond was 10 years. But the U.S. Government reduced it to 9 years and 8 months, in 1952. That revised maturity period is reflected in this advertisement.) (Additional note: The trains are by Lionel, and include "The General" locomotive, a New York Central boxcar, a Lionel flatcar, and Lionel Lines caboose.)
