U.S. 1st Battalion 1st Marines fight Japanese troops in Naha during their advance to Shuri. Marines fire bazooka. Marines dig on side of hill and move towards it. They move out through a small valley. Tanks move up and machine guns fired at caves used as fortifications by Japanese troops. Flamethrower tank fires at Japanese caves on side of the cliff causing explosions. Hillside burns after assault from flame throwing tanks. Large columns of white and black smoke arises from hills. Tracers from tank fired into Japanese cave positions. Flamethrower tank fires into enemy cave. (World War II period).

Truck backs up and Marines get down the truck. A lieutenant directs enlisted men. An officer leads enlisted men to the area where work is to be done. Truck backs up. A man opens a box containing Japanese aerial bombs. Marines use an axe to open box. Bombs are loaded onto truck. Truck loaded with bombs and Marines moves out. Truck moves along the road.
