The court is then adjourned with the announcement that sentence will be passed in a few weeks and the policemen escort Rauter out of the building and take him to a waiting police van.

Next is a sequences showing a Nazi concentration camp and its infamous "Arbeit Macht Frei," sign over the gate; A sign reading: "Vorsicht Gas.Lebensgefahr. nicht öffnen." (Caution gas. Danger to life. Dignitaries and people in courtroom stand up as the judges arrive and take their seats. Session of trial begins. Views of prosecution desk and tribunal seen in turns. Hans Albin Rauter is being questioned by judges. Flashback scenes of Dutch civilians being rounded up and deported on railroad trains to concentration camps, while in the background the prosecutor reads the charges. The round up footage first shows families with women and children being directed onto trains at a train station. A subsequent shot shows civilian men exiting cramped train cars and being lined up as German soldiers patrol the area; possibly on the grounds of a receiving concentration camp. Documents about crimes committed by the accused are shown. Another man enters the courtroom, takes the oath and is questioned by the tribunal. The man is a supervisor of prisoners working for the Germans, and at the time of the trial was detained at a Rotterdam Penitentiary.

War crime trial in the Hague, Netherlands. Judges in tribunal give the floor to the public prosecutor ("procureur-fiscaal"). The prosecutor reads a statement in which he explains why the prosecution of Rauter is one of the two most important Dutch Nazi trials (along with the prosecution of Anton Mussert), and why Rauter deserves the death penalty. Flashback scenes of dutch citizens being deported on trains under guard by Nazis. People climbing train, loading goods in the train, guards standing outside the train as men can be seen closing the doors and steam comes out from the train as it moves away. Prosecutor completes his readings and sits down.
