Next, American Army Rangers, Alamo Scouts, and Philippine Guerillas are seen wading across a shallow river on their way to rescue American prisoners held at a Japanese prison camp near Cabanatuan City, in the Philippines, during World War 2 .Scene shifts to American prisoners of war standing in formation outside a large building. Their hands are tied behind their backs. A new slate appears reading: "Men Awaiting Hospital Treatment after Liberation." Liberating American soldiers stand beside a Sherman tank conversing with several former POWs (prisoners of war). One of them looks quite emaciated. Another slate appears reading: "Beri-Beri,"followed by a closeup of the emaciated American just seen conversing with American soldiers in front of a Sherman tank. Closeup of his legs shows they are swollen. Closeup of him smoking a cigarette. A new slate reads:"Cabanatuan Water Facilities." Liberated POWs are using water pumped by hand from a well. Then, many American soldiers are seen gathered together outdoors, as if waiting to enter a mess facility. American soldiers are seen inside a building. Some are writing letters. outside, the liberators mingle with former POWs. One shows a captured Japanese sword. Slate reads: "Hidden Red Cross Supplies." American soldiers unearth large drums and open them, They then partake of edibles like candy that were in some of the boxes. Finally, POWs gather their belongings and begin leaving the prison compound.
