Canadian recruits, in uniform, are given realistic training in trenches similar to those in the battlefields of Europe for World War I. They crouch in trenches and fire their weapons including machine guns. Two men climb a raised platform and fire a machine gun concealed by brush. Officers stand outside a sandbagged bunker as new recruits, still in civilian clothes, follow several uniformed soldiers out of the bunker. Sign on bunker reads: "Enlist Here."
