Senator Dodd and Senator Cannon attempt to set one sample on fire but it remains unburnt. Senator Cannon then Examines the next sample passed to him. Senator Thomas Young and Senator Stennis are also present in the session.

Senator Smith questions the NASA officials extensively and appears dissatisfied with their testimony. She becomes visibly irritated, removes her glasses and stares angrily at the NASA officials. Robert Seamans attempts to interject explanatory comments and sits back with arms folded. Senator Margaret Chase Smith again stares angrily at the witnesses.
