Excerpt from film entitled "Counterattack- Marine Air Ground Team," about U.S. Marines in the Vietnam War. Marines are seen walking cautiously across irrigation ditches in cultivated region of South Vietnam. Scene shifts to one marine looking down at a hole where smoke is rising at the base of a berm. Vietnamese families evacuating their village where marines are burning houses and huts. View from riverbank strung with barbed wire, where marines are relaxing while gunfire is heard and black smoke rises from fires burning across the river. Next, a city is seen jammed with Vietnamese refugees with their belongings (some being assisted by ARVN soldiers) making their way through the crowds. A fallen civilian seen on the ground, victim of the Viet Cong (VC). Buildings and places of worship severely damaged by the VC. A bearded old Vietnamese man wearing a non la (conical hat) and smoking a cigarette, is questioned by a U.S. soldier. (Narrator says civilians are reluctant to say much for fear of reprisals.) Marines walking slowly through a village, and then through areas of trees and brush, open areas, and dense jungle. Personnel at air base takes the information about location. Pilots are briefed by a briefing officer. He says three runs on target and last man calls off target. Pilots and crew run towards planes. They sit in F-4 Phantom and A-4 Sky Hawks. Crafts taxi out of revetments and take off. Ground troops fire. Bombers drop bombs on enemy targets. Fire due to explosion. Marine Forward Air Controller informs the base about accurate bombing. Ground troops move forward. Viet civilians walk on road. (Vietnam War period).

They taxi to positions closer to the runway to facilitate quicker launch in the event of an enemy attack without much early warning. Electrical power and heat or air conditioning is suppliied to each aircraft from motorized ground units. Yellow conduits are seen extending into the aircraft cockpits. Various views ot the B-52s in position. Scene shifts to the base alert facility, where an alarm sounds and aircrews respond to vehicles pre-parked on the ramp outside. Closeup of responding aircrew members boarding their vehicles. Next, they are seen boarding their respective aircraft that then start engines and begin to taxi out for takeoff. Views of B-52s taxiing toward the runway. Since this is only an exercise, upon reaching the runway, the aircraft taxi down it and thrn return to their parking places.

Crew of a U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) aerial refueling KC-135 tanker aircraft stand on a stage. They stand at attention as a Lieutenant Colonel at a podium reads the citation accompanying their award , in recognition of a unique refueling mission they performed during the Vietnam War. The crew members are Major John H. Casteel, Aircraft Commander; Captain Richard L. Trail, Pilot; Captain Dean L. Hoar, Navigator; and Master Sergeant Nathan C. Campbell, Boom Operator. During Operation "Daisy Chain," they performed the first ever three-level aerial refueling operation that saved six carrier-based U.S. Navy aircraft critically low on fuel, over the Gulf of Tonkin.
