Ethiopian flier Colonel Hubert Fauntleroy Julian (nicknamed The Black Eagle) arriving back in New York, United States aboard the ocean liner Île de France. Hubert Julian, of Harlem, is returning from Abyssinia (Ethiopia) where Emperor Selassie had invited him to take part in the Emperor's coronation. But Colonel Julian returned after crashing one of the Emperor's planes (a de Havilland Gipsy Moth that was a gift to the Emperor) during a coronation rehearsal. (According to the New York Times of November 1, 1930, the Emperor "ordered him out of the country in disgrace.") Colonel Julian poses for the camera. They are invited and climb aboard the ice-covered vessel, where they are seen gathered on deck. Several Women in their group are invited to climb to the ship's bridge, where they pose looking over the railing. The Eskimos walking out to their respective sleds and dog teams (the dogs look like husky or malamute). Several crew members from the USS Burton Island are taken on a dogsled rides by the Eskimos. Afterwards, those crew members are seen walking back to their waiting ship.
