Two U.S. Marines place American flags on the bodies of medical missionary, Dr. Paul Earle Carlson, and missionary, Phyllis Rine. A military honor guard is present and Premier Moise Tshombe and some of his aides meet the aircraft. The rescued hostages get off the plane. A number of them are carried off on stretchers and carried away in station wagon ambulances.
