Jewish demonstrators march across a bridge, in Chicago, carrying signs and banners denouncing the Nazis in Germany. The bridge crosses over a railroad. Many cars move on opposite lane from marchers. Several buses drive slowly past them. A brass band (not playing) accompanies them. Several marchers carry a large banner reading: "Hitler's Henchman Goebels must not greet the Century of Progress." The marchers move and assemble at Congress Plaza near Grant Park. A statue of an American Indian on horseback is seen. A municipal flag on a pole towering over the assembly contains the words: "Chicago 1933" against a backdrop symbol of the World's Fair.
Fifteen children and bus driver drown in a lake, Chelan, Washington. People gather around the place. Crane lifts the wrecked bus from the lake. Divers under water. A child in his home with parents. Woman on bed. A woman reads newspaper. A girl sits. ( Note: Survivors of this tragedy are shown at the end. . In order of appearance, they are: Donnie Mack, Mrs. Glenna Brown, Mari Condon, Peggy Rice, and Ethel Keck. One other survivor, Bobby Watson, is not shown.)
The great U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, CV-6, arrives at New York. She returns from Southampton. Thousands of soldiers aboard returning from service in World War 2. Soldiers stand at the deck of the ship. They wave their hands. Soldiers with cups and trays in mess. They eat food. The ship and the soldiers honored by the Lord Mayor of the city at the English port.
Madame Donnet in Washington DC. She boards the TWA airline. Constellation planes inaugurate the route from U.S. to Paris in16 hours. Madame Donnet, wife of the French ambassador stands at the ramp with flower bouquet. She christens the first plane with a compressed air gun. People watch. Other men board the plane. A man waves his hand towards people. The plane in flight.
President Franklin Roosevelt's son at a shipyard in Boston, Massachusetts. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Junior reports for active duty with the fleet. He goes aboard the USS Mayrant and shakes hands with other officer.
A Nazi German Messerschmitt Bf 110, (Me 110) in a hangar of the Vultee aircraft manufacturing company in Downey, California, early in World War 2, and before America's entrance into the war. The aircraft (possibly captured by the British?) is seen going through inspection by workers at the Vultee plant. There are some bullet holes and signs of damage in the captured plane. Men in the cockpit of the plane inspect it. Other men watch.
