Chinese airmen board a U.S. troop carrier aircraft at Austin, Texas

United States and Chinese airmen at Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas July 1946. The Neo-Classical building is the Texas State Capital at Austin, Texas and Austin Texas is noted on the graduate’s diploma “Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas”. At this time the 349th Troop Carrier Group was based at Bergstrom and assigned to the Third Air Force, Tactical Air Command as noted on the diploma. Also “Air Force Combat Units of World War II” Edited by Maurer Maurer states this unit trained Chinese crews to operate C-46 aircraft. Film is very interesting in that it visually shows the transition from “Army brown to Air Force Blue” for the C-46s still carry the I TROOP CARRIER COMMAND insigne on the nose, with was disbanded on 4 Nov 1945 but they have the new AAF wide "Buzz Numbers" for all aircraft operating solely within the continental USA, by T.O. 07-1-1 of November 1945 and the graduate’s diploma is notating the new post-war air force type command reorganization of March 1946.

United States Army artillerymen arrive with a caisson and field piece, at a training observation post in a field at Fort Crook, Nebraska. They separate the gun from the caisson and begin to set it up. The next scene shows an artillery unit with teams of horses pulling caissons and field pieces. Scene reverts back to artillery observation post, where soldiers erect an observation ladder from their caisson,stabilized by guy wires. A soldier climbs it to observe from the top, with binoculars. More artillery is seen being pulled across the training fields. A horseman gallops across the field past the camera. He meets and officer standing by a flag and salutes after receiving an order, and gallops off.

French General Charles de Gaulle is feted in Chicago during his visit to the United States in 1945

Film opens showing people in an American city (possibly Chicago) celebrating the Allied victory over Japan on VJ Day, August 15th, 1945. Scene shifts abruptly to Chicago, Illinois, where French General Charles de Gaulle is seen saluting in a reviewing stand at Victory Plaza near Lasalle Street entrance to City Hall. (On August 24th, he had accepted an invitation from Mayor Edward Kelly to stop in Chicago on August 27-28, 1945, during his visit to the U.S. and Canada.) Next, general de Gaulle and Mayor Kelly are seen in an open car in a motorcade amidst crowds of well-wishers. Enthusiastic spectators run along side their car. Glimpse of a dense crowd of people, including a contingent of sailors in dress whites. Final scene shows General de Gaulle speaking with reporters and photographers near a sign reading "W-G-N."
