Electro-shock treatment with preliminary curarization at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Washington DC. A doctor (psychiatrist) injects a dose of Into-Costrin (curare) in the patient's veins. Muscular paresis develops inside the patient. He finds it much difficult to open his eyes, raise his head or move his arms and limbs after the injection. The patient is given an electro-shock treatment, or electric shock therapy, thereafter. Patient's convulsions reduce drastically due to preliminary curarization. An analysis of the therapeutic effects of the electro-shock treatments under different symptoms is displayed.
