Opening scene shows a sign identifying the 38th Parallel separating North from South Korea. Refugees with their few belongings walk from North Korea to South Korea. A U.S. Patton tank is seen next, followed by another. Closeup of treads on a Patton tank, raising dust as it passes. Another Patton heading toward the camera, with a crewman waving. A Cessna L-19 Bird Dog, aircraft, marked with three stars, arrives, carrying the new Commander of the Eight Army, Lieutenant General James Van Fleet. He climbs out of the airplane and shakes hands with a Brigadier General. Standing behind him is Air Force Lieutenant General Earle E. Partridge, commander of the 5th Air Force. A jeep carrying General Van Fleet turns in from a dirt road. A sign reads "56th Regiment, Message Center." Lieutenant General Van Fleet, climbs out of the front right seat of the jeep. He is wearing a pair of pearl handled side arms. U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General Partridge is seated in the back seat of the jeep and jumps out behind Van Fleet. Armistice agreement brings the Korean War to a halt, Panmunjon, Korea.

Major events of 1953. Field ambulances arrive at Freedom village bringing repatriated prisoners at the end of hostilities during the Korean War. General William Harrison of United States and General Nam II of North Korea sign the armistice agreement in Panmunjon bringing the war to a halt. War weary American soldiers return home and receive a warm welcome. Soldiers hug their family and friends as they reunite with them. The Statue of Liberty in New York, United States. (Note: Among those repatriated, seconds 18-21 and 26-28 of the clip show Rifleman George Hobson from Fazakerley, Liverpool, of the Royal Ulster Rifles, who was shot and captured at the Battle of the Imjin River in 1951.)

Start of Korean War. South Korea is attacked by Communist North Korea. Map shows division of Korea and capital of North and South Korea as Pyongyang and Seoul. Animated arrows shows attack of North Korea to South Korea. Troops of Korean Republican Army in the South mobilizing in citiies and heading to the front. Secretary of UN, Trygve Lie states the situation is a as threat to world peace and calls for acceptance of the U.S. demand to reestablish peace. All 9 members present raise their hands in acceptance. Two Korean refugee boys stand side by side as one child eats bread. Next scene is again at the United Nations. Empty seat of representative of the Soviet Union is shown. U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Warren Austin, speaks and asks that the UN members vote to to assist South Korea, repel the armed attack by North Korea, and bring peace. Camera shows Security Council delegates voting, as 7 out of 8 representatives raise their hands in acceptance.

UN forces advance past the 38th Parallel and ROK forces reach the Yalu River, in October, 1950, during the Korean War

At a meeting of the UN Security Council, in Lake Success, New York, U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Warren Austin, displays a Soviet-made weapon captured in Korea. Soviet representative, Jacob Malik, walks out of the meeting. Warren passes the weapon around to other Security Council delegates. Britain's Ambassador,Sir Gladwyn Jebb, examines it closely and it is then passed over the chair vacated by Malik, to the representative of Norway. (It appears to be a Soviet SVT-40 or SKS semi-automatic rifle.) Shift to animated map showing UN forces completely occupying South korea, to the 38th parallel. Crew members board a U.S. Air Force C-47 aircraft named,"The Speaker." Closeup of one crew member, a Korean, wearing a hat labeled,"Voice of UN." The aircraft takes off. Inside the plane's cabin, a Korean delivers a message that is being broadcast to any North Korean soldiers on the ground. Views of the huge loudspeakers mounted in the rear cabin of the aircraft. Stacks of pamphlets are seen in the aircraft, that encourage enemy combatants to surrender and include safe conduct passes. Crew members are seen throwing these from the airplane. UN soldiers pose with a large sign reading,"You Are Crossing The 38th Parallel, courtesy of the 3rd ROK Div." Troops of that division are seen proceeding North, along a road.
