Governor Coolidge during a ceremony at Plymouth Rock, the 'stepping stone to liberty', with his wife Grace Coolidge and Massachusetts Senator Henry Cabot Lodge. Several other men present. Calvin Coolidge arrives home and receives an ovation from his Northampton neighbors on his nomination for the Vice Presidency. His family is greeted by a throng of Northampton citizens. Coolidge stands on the steps of his house and greets the people. Coolidge pledges to uphold the best traditions of the Republic during his nomination. A large crowd gathered for the event. Calvin and Grace Coolidge cast their vote in the elections. A crowd waits outside as the two emerge from a building.

An electric locomotive approaches the steam engine. ( Note the carbide headlamp on the electric locomotive--which were outlawed by the ICC circa 1918. ) The motor pulls the steam engine and its train West. Next: a 'cab ride' from North Adams, Massachusetts to West Portal and subsequently exits the East Portal of the 4.75 mile long Hoosac Tunnel.
