Union Leaders gathered for a Labor meeting in New York. Meeting is conducted to achieve merger between AFL (American Federation of Labor) and CIO (Congress of Industrial Organizations). The President of AFL-CIO, George Meany and Vice President, Walter Reuther jointly bang the gable to open the meeting. Crowd cheers. Meany and Waler raise hands together. Crowd claps.

British film from World War II intended to acquaint British people with aspects of the United States.
British World War 2 film (described as the equivalent of the U.S. wartime film "Know Your Ally, Britain"). Film opens showing 19th Century animated map of the United States. It traces the development of the railroads in the U.S. It shows rail lines reaching the Missouri River by the year 1860. (Narrator states this took 250 years to happen.) But in another 10 years, the map shows the Union Pacific and other rail lines extending two the West Coast, and U.S. commerce shifting, from North-South movement, to East-West (with an animated steam locomotive moving across the map). Chicago is highlighted as the greatest railway junction in the world (the "Piccadilly Circus" as the British narrator describes it). View of a 19th century steam locomotive pulling a freight railroad train in the desert Western U.S. Views of the arid Western parts of the U.S. Group of Native American Indians watching a train pass. Royal Air Force officers escort Queen Elizabeth and Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret, on a road in England. Cars and jeeps parked on the road. Queen Elizabeth chats with crewmen of a British bomber, as Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret are assisted in boarding the aircraft to examine it. 'Parachute' written on the door of the aircraft. The Queen steps out of the aircraft, followed by Princess Elizabeth. The Queen watches as King George VI, decorates a Royal Air Force Squadron Leader, and several junior RAF officers. French colonials, carrying French tricolor flags, and Vietnamese civilians, carrying North Vietnamese flags, mingle with French and Vietnamese military and officials, outside airport. men carry a huge banner. The banner reads 'Viet Nam Lao Dong Lien Doan', meaning: Vietnam Labor Union. A group of young Vietnamese women, carry flags and chant. Small Vietnamese children wave flags. A DC-3 aircraft, with North Vietnam flags in the windows, taxis to a stop. North Vietnamese leader, Ho Chi Minh, emerges, followed by Jean Sainteny, delegate from the High Commissioner of France. Ho Chi Minh is immediately surrounded by high ranking French officers and officials and press and photographers. A little Vietnamese girl presents him flowers. Ho Chi Minh makes a public statement into two microphones covered by hankerchiefs (to muffle wind?).
