Artillery demonstrations at British Army Royal School of Artillery, Larkhill, on the south edge of Salisbury, England. Gun crews ride in Light Dragon MkII tractors towing 18 pounder field artillery pieces. They wheel about and set up a long battery of artillery that begins firing. Military spectators line the field to watch the demonstrations. Autogyro used for observation lands behind a smoke source. Troops begin firing trench mortars. Tanks race at hight speed through smoke on the demonstration field. Battery of 4.5 inch howitzers seen firing. As the demonstration concludes, MkII tractors tow 4.5 inch howitzers away as spectators disperse.
Presidential Inaugural Ceremonies held for Ronald Reagan on 20th January 1981in Washington DC. The Presidential motorcade leaves the U.S. Capitol grounds and proceeds down Pennsylvania Avenue towards the White House. President Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy Reagan wave at the crowd. Trucks, jeeps and tanks move along the water flooded roads with difficulty. Advancing troops and supplies slowed down. Tank and infantry units in fields. Phosphorous and small arms fired on camouflaged Japanese positions. Heavy smoke rises up. Fire and smoke. Tanks and soldiers advance. Army corps relieved by Marines in South Naha. (World War II period).
A United States aircraft in flight. Comedian Joseph Evans Brown (Joe E Brown) arrives in South Pacific and is seen on stage putting on a show to entertain U.S. Army soldiers and sailors. Joe E Brown organizes a baseball game fundraiser in Hollywood, California, raising money for recreational equipment for the troops during the war. It features active duty military members who were recent former professional baseball players playing the game. Charlie Stevens of the Saint Louis Browns warming up at bat. Opening scene displays map of Italy, Sardinia, and Corsica. A German soldier at the front in the area of Monte Cassino, reads military news entitled, "South Front" which contains news about the battle of Monte Cassino, in Italy during World War 2. The high hill known as Monte Cassino and the Monastery located there are seen in the background. German troops are seen hidden among foliage at the base of the hill. One is hunkered down behind an M-42 machine gun equipped with a tripod. Glimpse of troops in trench, conversing. Next, American aircraft (too far away to see) begin bombing the Monte Cassino hilltop and Monastery. Numerous explosions are seen and heard as the bombs explode. A German soldier jumps over a stone wall to find better protection. German soldier observes through binoculars. At a campsite, where some clothes are drying in the background, Several German officers consult maps and discuss their plans. German infantry move into new positions at the base of the hill. One fires short bursts from an M-42 machine gun. Others fire their rifles. One uses a Schiessbecher to fire a rocket propelled grenade with his rifle. As they advance further, they come upon the bodies of several dead American soldiers. They capture an American soldier and disarm him. They capture several more American soldiers and march them back from the front. German officers interrogate the captured soldiers. Finger points at a location on an area map. German artillery then fires at that position. Artillery officers use periscopic binoculars to monitor the targeting. German artillery shells burst in a valley below the Monte Cassino hill.
