USS Samuel Chase (APA-26) stops at Casablanca en route to the U.S. for repairs, in World War II

Scene aboard the USS Samuel Chase (APA-26) as she approaches the pier in Casablanca port, during World War 2. Life preserver reads "USS Samuel Chase, USCG". American flag flies. Officers and men on deck. Ship's wake seen astern. Line handlers on pier, with hawser in their hands, walk across the pier to secure the lines. As Coast Guardsmen on the pier watch, a Scuffle breaks out among some local men on the pier. Several are knocked to the ground. Rifle-armed Moroccan gendarmerie in brown uniforms and red fezs, chase the troublemakers off the pier, and restore order. Crewmen are seen retrieving the ship's lines. The Navy Jack is lowered from the stern flag pole as the Chase begins to move away from the pier. The French battleship, Jean Bart, can be seen at an adjacent pier, beyond a group of intervening warehouses. A U.S. PBY aircraft flies overhead. Several scenes show crew members as they settle down for the voyage home.Several play acey ducey backgammon on deck. Some simply relax on the deck. Four crewmen play cards. The USS Samuel Chase heads West into the sunset.

U.S. Coast Guard Captain Roger C.Heimer of the Samuel Chase (APA-26), steps down to the main deck, where crewmen are assembled. They honor Captain Heimer, who will be leaving the ship in Norfolk, by presenting him with a plaque, that appears to chronicle the major campaigns in which the Chase participated. The Captain thanks them and speaks to the crew. He then climbs a ladder down the ship's side. Other officers follow him. Soon, the captain and officers are seen climbing back on the main deck, where they converse. A Consolidated PB2Y Coronado flying boat is seen flying overhead. The American flag flutters from the ship.
