Badly damaged LCT-25 on the beach at Normandy, with her cargo of half-tracks still aboard and remains of the first one off, sitting at her ramp where it was hit by a German shell. Higgins Boat riddled with bullet holes. Scene shifts to January 1944 when United States Army troops descend from a troop transport ship into LCT-504 for practice maneuvers in the Chesapeake Bay. A soldier operates a Higgins Boat. Another soldier directs a Higgins Boat to the shore. Troops hit the beach in Higgins Boats driven by U.S. Coast Guardsmen from the Attack Transport ship, USS Samuel Chase (APA-26). On 12 December, 1944, at an airport in Naples, Italy, British General Sir Henry Nathan Wilson inspects an honor guard of American Military Policemen in formation. (Narrator states he is en route to replace the late Field Marshal Sir John Dill, in Washington, DC, USA) A contingent of British troops is also present as part of the honor guard, on the wet airport tarmac. (Narrator states that Wilson will head the British Joint Staff Mission and be personal military representative for Prime Minister Winston Churchill.) One almost veers off the deck completely, and one the involves a nose-over. In one instance, the pilot comes in too hot, on one wheel, and prudently executes a "go around" for another try.

One lands long and hot and falls off the end of the flight deck, into the water. Another catches left wing on edge of flight deck. And, still, another noses over and its turning propeller chews up the flight deck. ( A following airplane breaks off its approach at this time.)

A Navy Grumman F4F airplane crashes on the deck of the USS Makassar Strait (CVE-91) during training cruise off Hawaii, in November, 1944. The aircraft noses over upon landing and then flips over on its back. Ship's crew quickly go to aid of the pilot and extract him on a stretcher, from the cockpit.
