Space research programs of the National Aeronautics And Space Administration (NASA) in the United States. Launch of Mercury-Atlas 9 (MA9) from Launch Pad 14 at Cape Canaveral on May 15, 1963. Men aboard ship recover Mercury capsule from sea and astronaut Gordon Cooper emerges from Faith 7 capsule on deck of ship, returning after his successful spaceflight with 22 orbits. Animation depicts the travel path of a rocket from the earth to the moon and the process of landing a vehicle on the moon. Narrator discusses then upcoming Project Gemini program.
