Germany responds to the Russian attack near Breslau, Lower Silesia, Germany (Now part of Poland) during World War II. StuG III's move on the road. Soldiers stand with Panzerfaust recoilless antitank weapons and guns. Sdkfz 251/21 Drilling half-tracks advance. Two soldiers look through binoculars. A stationary Panther (Panzer) tank. Soldiers sit on a Hetzer Jagdpanzer 38 light tank destroyer (Sd.Kfz. 138/2). A tank gun is fired. Soldiers sit holding small arms in the battle field.
Christmastime celebrations in Upper Darby (bordering West Philadelphia). A 60-foot high statue of Santa Claus (Kris Kringle), is set up on 69th Street. Children dance in a circle around it and snake in and out of adjacent building. Some children are seen having pony rides in the midst of the activity. A line of students walk past and shake hands with a person in Santa costume, as adults watch from nearby. A group of younger children mob Santa, who takes it all in stride. Small children receiving gifts from Santa in his hut. Santa holds and shows a toy train to a very small child in his arms, who simply cries. The same thing happens when he tries to give a toy bear to another very small child.
Loading of a U.S. LST (Landing Ship, Tank) at Polgwidden (A.K.A Trebah) beach , Helford River, near Falmouth, Cornwall, England during World War 2. (From the superstructure visible this is probably LST 532, USS Chase County.) A jeep pulls a trailer aboard the LST. Two jeeps on the elevator of the LST as it rises to upper deck. The upper deck of the LST shows a truck backing up on a ramp. (Note:This footage was taken on June 1, 1944, as the troops and equipment embarked for the D-Day invasion of Normandy. They spent the next 5 days very uncomfortably aboard due to stormy weather that delayed the landings until June 6th.)
Workmen guide a truck carrying the top half of a wood frame house on a narrow path through woods. The truck in a large clearing in the woods. Next the bottom half of the house is seen with cables wrapped around it and a steel girder above. in the next scene, has been moved to the clearing and men stand atop it, while an 80 ton crane slowly raises the upper half and maneuvers it toward the lower half. The Crane belongs to the C.P. Ward Company, a New York State General Contractor Firm. The crane operator and workmen guide the upper half of the house into place.
