Firemen race down Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, in fire wagons, pulled by horses. They arrive at a multistory building on fire. Huge plumes of black smoke belch from their pumper apparatus. Firemen place a ladder against the building, and direct water from a hose onto fire in second story of the building, adjacent to the ladder. A commercial sign (Restaurant?) hangs in front of the section of the building where the fire is located. Trees along the boulevard are bare. Spectators are few.
