The first ever atomic bomb device is in position at the top of its test tower, the day before it produced the first nuclear detonation in history. This device was detonated in the early morning of the next day, July 16, 1945. The detonation test event was named Trinity. (World War II period).

Brazil takes possession of USS Philadelphia and USS St. Louis at Philadelphia Naval Yard.

Occasion is the transfer to Brazil of the USS Philadelphia (CL-41) and the USS St. Louis (CL-49). A number of U.S. Navy warships are docked as part of the U.S. Atlantic Reserve Fleet at Philadelphia Naval Yard in Pennsylvania.
