'The Coast Guard at War' depicts the work of combat cameramen on the U.S. Coast Guard. U.S. Coast Guard Arctic Patrol. CG personnel aboard a cutter. Deck gun and the U.S. flag. A sailor communicates over the radio. Sailors on deck, the bow and deck. Combat cameramen record the CG activities including a religious ceremony. Sicily Invasion, 1943: Combat cameramen capture the scene as a German bomb hits an ammunition ship off the coast. Explosion on the ship, a mushroom cloud rises up. Sailors watch with binoculars. Normandy, 1944: Allied troops climb down rope ladders into Landing Craft Personnel (LCP). which deliver the men and cargo to the Normandy beaches. Soldiers wade through the water towards the shore under enemy fire.
1945: United States Coast Guard and Navy Landing Ships at the Iwo Jima beachhead. Soldiers on the beach. Military vehicles and tanks unloaded from the crafts. Coast Guard and Navy Landing Craft smashed by the hidden guns of Mount Suribachi. Waves lash against the shattered boats. Soldiers salvage parts. Soldiers and military vehicles on the beach. Half-tracks and tanks. Soldiers carry supplies. Landing Craft off shore. (World War II period).

He places a radiation monitoring instrument on a pole and picks up a cylindrical piece of equipment. He removes a polythene cover from the equipment and fixes it to the instrument. Technicians work on a vehicle. A technician uses a pipette to take out a liquid from a bottle. He drops the liquid on a plate. He takes the sample and puts it into a machine. A technician uses a suction device to collect a sample of soil from the ground. He places a Geiger counter or other radiation monitoring gauge on the ground.

The protective gear reads 'SWP' (Special Work Permit). He then proceeds to a step-off pad where he removes his boots and respirator which are also boxed up, as contaminated.
