A tile in hands for examination. A medical team composed of Lieutenant Commander Nello Pace and Lt. Robert E. Smith takes readings of residual radiation in the area in front of the entrance to the Nagasaki Prison. A Geiger Mueller counter team reads the amount of radiation and plots the findings on a map. Robert E. Smith of USN operates the counter and another officer stands near holding a board with a map of Nagasaki. The officer adjusts the dial of the counter.
