Crowd gathered around a Boeing Stratocruiser passenger aircraft, operated by British Overseas Airways Corporation, as it arrives at Washington National Airport. A ladder is placed at the door of the aircraft (bearing letters MATS, for Military Air Transport Service). British Prime Minister Winston Churchill,and Sir Anthony Eden, exit the aircraft, followed by other officials in their party. Vice President Nixon shakes hands with Churchil at the foot of the aircraft steps. Lots of photographers take pictures and people around clap. Churchill addresses the gathering, with Vice President Nixon, at his left, Sir Anthony Eden, at his right, and U.S. Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, behind him. He turns to greet Dulles, following his remarks.
