USS Forrestal (CV-59) in Gulf of Tonkin,Vietnam after fire. Rubble, burned hulks of aircraft, and twisted metal visible, particularly on the aft starboard area. Fire hoses spread all over the deck. Fires extinguished, but men continue in assessing damage and beginning cleanup. Sailor with forklift clears the debris of damaged aircraft. Men look down different gaping holes caused by explosions of bombs and rockets on aircraft consumed in fire. Several large pits over the deck area and water drip down from these pits. A helmet lying on the deck. Crew and officers hunched over a crater in the deck.
