U.S. Marines during Operation Prairie in Vietnam. Several Marines (Mars), some with camouflage helmets, some without shirts seated and standing in a clearing in the jungle. An 81mm mortar amidst the Mars. A Mar holds mortar round while seated while another Mar removes packing material from fin of a mortar round. A Mar loads and fires 81mm mortar. Other Mars hold fingers in their ears and look on. Columns of white smoke rising from side of wooded hill due to impact of mortar. A U.S. Marines A-4B Skyhawk flies on strafing run. The aircraft drops bombs that fall through columns of smoke onto side of wooded hill. Mars load and fire 81mm mortar as seen over branches of trees lying on the ground. Another Mar holds fingers in ears as he looks on. A Mar looks through sight of mortar and adjusts range. Mars in clearing prepares mortar rounds for firing. A Mar removes cleaning rod from mortar. Columns of black and white smoke rises from wooded hillside. A-4B drops napalm bombs which explode in a cluster of trees. Columns of smoke rise due to the explosions.
