U.S. Army Air Forces personnel of the 354th Fighter Group, the Pioneer Mustang Fighter Group, with several horses on a field in France during World War 2. A pilot, in uniform,tries unsuccessfully to mount a small horse, bareback. Later, after lassoing a large horse,with help from others, he approaches and slowly gains its confidence enough to slip a training bridle on and mount it. He then expertly rides the horse bareback, even managing to ride at a canter. (The field is near the town of Criqueville, France, close to the Normandy Beachhead.)
