People carry flags and banners during a May Day parade in East Berlin, Germany. East Germany flags hang from buildings. Opening scene shows tower of the Sophienkirche in the background. Civilians carrying banners expressing views of companies, unions, and trade groups against imperialism and for communism. One group carries a large faux millimeter caliper with a top hat on it. Some carry East German tricolor flags and many carry large red flags. At about TC: 01:00, the spire of St Mary's church (Marienkirche) is seen behind buildings. At TC: 01:26, a marcher carrying a poster with image of Fidel Castro, is seen. As the parade progresses, uniformed People's police (Deutsche Volkspolizei) and other uniformed personnel, including one group wearing white armbands, are seen in the parade. Men and women parade in East German army uniforms. Health care workers in white uniforms are seen.
