A large crowd of Hawaiian dignitaries gathers to witness the christening of cruiser Honolulu in New York. Among the crowd are Mayor of New York Fiorello La Guardia along with his wife. The crowd watches Miss Poindexter christen cruiser `Honolulu' by smashing a specially decorated bottle across the bow of ship. The captain of the ship acknowledges the honors. The ship slides down from its dry dock and into the water. 1937.
