U.S. Army soldiers with rifles in fields of Chateau Thierry France during World War I. They are firing rifles from prone positions. Soldier in foreground seems to be having trouble with the bolt on his rifle. Buildings across a river in area still held by Germans. The buildings seem relatively intact. But a bridge across the river is completely destroyed. An empty German 'Big Bertha' gun emplacement is examined by American soldiers.
