1 April 1933, the opening of the official Anti-Semitic campaign in Germany. People crowd on the street and shout Nazi salute of Sieg Heil. A few hold posters. German Propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels speaks to people and stirs them up, and leads them in a chant hailing the Nazi party and its leader. A car loaded with Nazi brownshirts (Sturmabteilung, or SA, or Stormtroopers) and people riding bicycles behind it. A poster on the back of the car reads (in German): "Germans! Defend yourselves! Do not buy from Jews" The Stormtroopers interrupt business at Jewish establishments along the commercial section of Unter den Linden. They post signs calling for boycott of Jewish businesses and other signs such as " Attention Jews" accompanied by a threatening skull and cross bones image. They lead people on the street in anti-Jewish chant.
