American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) seen in a trench in a snowy field in France. One of them has a Lewis, Light machine gun at his position. They don their gas masks. Gas drifts over their trench. They take up their firing positions, and one is seen to fire his weapon.Then the scene is obscured by gas. As the gas fumes begin to clear, one soldier is seen taking samples of the air with vacuum bulb and phosgene detector. (World War i; World War 1; WWI; WW1)
