Method of pumping oil out of an oil well in the United States. A lump of sugar is dipped in a cup of tea to show how oil is contained in oil sands. A man pours nitroglycerin in an oil bore. Animation depicts how this is done. A shooter lights a squib which contains dynamite and drops it into the well to detonate the charge. Animation shows how the squib is dropped, the resultant explosion at the bottom and how the oil rushes up in the well. A derrick. Temporary field storage tanks in which the oil is stored after it has been pumped out of the well. Oil shoots out of a derrick because of underground pressure.
