A young man blazes the trail for the then-planned 1600 mile Alaskan Highway. He is seen arriving in Hazelton, British Columbia, Canada at conclusion of his scouting expedition to help determine the route for the future Alaska Highway. Views of the young man walking during his hike, together with his dog. He walks along a river. His dog follows him. The dog carries baggage on its back including snow shoes for the young man. The boy and his dog resting and cooking at a camp site. He is joined by three Canadian Mounted Police and they walk together to greet officials in Hazleton at the end of his journey. They meet and he shakes hands with them.
