A U.S. Coast Guard Cutter underway in the Atlantic Ocean. The sky is clear. An officer stands on the deck of a vessel. Several Coast guardsmen stand by a large deck gun. One man wears earphones and holds microphone. An officer, wearing a sidearm, stands on the deck. An officer watches. A guncrewman picks up a shell for the gun. A rectangular cloth target is spread out on the deck of the cutter and officers pace over it and record the location of hits made by gun crews. They repeat the process with another target. Other coast guard men watch. Places where rounds penetrated the target are shown in the cloth. A rectangular white area in the center of the cloth.
