Men and women in an early Russian rocket club. Men from the Rocket Club prepare for the launch of a single stage rocket. A concrete bunker with slit for observation, stands nearby. They climb on a supporting structure and slowly lower the rocket into position for launch. A man, wearing protective goggles and gloves, fuels the rocket from a pressure cylinder. Several club member climb trees near the site to observe the launch. A woman sits at a desk in the bunker. A man, standing by the rocket, counts down, and then runs behind the bunker holding a rope. The woman in the bunker actuates a plunger, and the rocket ignites. It burns for a while before finally rising in the launch frame and heading skyward.
