A sailor aboard USS New York (BB-34) waves an orange caution flag at a Navy OS2U Kingfisher float plane waiting to be hoisted aboard the ship. The pilot receives a green flag signal and hoisting operations begin. After being hoisted aboard and secured, the pilot steps from the aircraft and disconnects the hoist sling. Sailors wash down the deck of the ship.
