British soldiers at a beachhead in Anzio, Italy during World War II. A British soldier of 2nd Brigade of 1st Division digs a bivouac hole. Another soldier relaxes as he drinks from a bottle of beer and then passes it to the man digging the fox hole. The soldiers drink from the bottle and continue to dig the hole. Soldiers cut logs of wood with hammer and place them across the top upon the completion of the hole. A soldier stands in the hole. A soldier works with a shovel. A tent in the background. A soldier in the hole with crates around it. A sign near the dugout reads ' Hotel Picadilly'.
