United States soldiers fight along the Austrian border near Scharnitz Pass in Austria during World War Two. Infantrymen of Companies A,B, and C, 1st Battalion, 409th Regiment, 103rd Division, fire rifles at German positions in wooded hills, across a snow covered field. Soldiers take cover behind trees and fence posts. M4 Sherman tanks, a half track and jeeps support the soldiers, on a well paved road. A soldier fires a machine gun from a jeep. A tank fires its gun at hillside across the snow-covered field. The soldiers look through binoculars. Two surrendering German soldiers run by several American soldiers, one of whom swings a rifle at them and another who kicks at them as they run past. A U.S. tank enters a village, passing a sign that reads ' Scharnitz, Kreis Innsbruck '. U.S. infantrymen enter the village passing between buildings and log fences. The walk past several iron tank obstacles along paths in the village.
