A documentary about the dangers posed by avalanches and the methods to control them in the mountainous regions of the United States. A snow ranger on Mount Baldy in Alta, Utah prepares a package of avalanche starters. Ranger works on cables and a pack of explosives. He tosses the charge onto an avalanche slope. A slide pass being treated. Snow comes rolling down the pass. Snow comes down the same slope on another day. Corners of the slide being treated as ranger digs and plants a charge. Snow blown away. A safety rope helps the ranger stay on top as the explosive goes off in the corner.
