Activities of United States Marine Corps in Iwo Jima, Japan during the Battle of Iwo Jima, World War II. Casualties are brought, hoisted aboard from a Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel (LCVP) alongside. The casualties are carried down a gangway to ambulances waiting on a dock in Guam. USS Solace (AH-5) alongside the dock. Corpsmen carry patients down the gangway and place them in the ambulances. Wounded on stretchers are placed in the ambulances.
