Scene shifts to a modernist classroom where children are seated at tables engaged in various independent individual activities, as a teacher walks amongst them. A girl at one table places cards with numbers on them, in sequence, across her table. A boy works with numbered cards and a box of pegs, while another boy, next to him, listens as he shakes rattles to sort them by sound. He places them on the table according to their sounds. At the end of their school session, the children stand at individual wash basins and wash up.. One girl and boy are paired up and put on an act, for the camera, with the girl washing the boy's face, neck and ears, using soap and wash cloth,
