U.S. soldiers in Vairano, Italy during World War II. They feed Italian refugees. A mess tent. A sergeant of the 700th Ordnance Company talks to a group of children who are standing underneath the mess tent. He guides them into a line and the children are served the left overs. The children with containers get food. The remaining children in the line make a rush to get the last of the scraps. After the food is distributed, the soldiers gently push the children away.
